In 1853, millwright George Frick launched the Frick company to manufacture steam engines, boilers, threshers and saw mills. It was 1882 before the first Frick ammonia refrigeration unit was installed in Baltimore, MD, beginning a tradition of leadership in industrial refrigeration.
1891 saw the beginning of overseas work, with installations in Mexico and Cuba. Frick introduced the HDI Heavy Duty Compressor in the 1920's producing and installing more than 30,000 amonia compressors worldwide during that product's 60 year history.
Fueled by military demand for refrigeration to preserve foods during World War II, the food and beverage industry has become the major user of refrigeration equipment.
Intrduction of the rotary screw compressor led the development of FRick's preeminent position in the manufacture of refrigeration equipment. Introduction of the RWB II compressor package in 1982, matched with its Quantum microprocessor panel to manage compressor operation, made Frick equipment state- of- the art. Today, Frick refrigeration equipment is sold and installed around the world, and includes ACUair hygenic air handling units, condensers, evaporators, controls, and vessels.
The Frick brand name has a proud history of representing efficient performance, reliable equipment, cost-effective solutions and the most responsive service organization in the refrigeration industry. Today, the Frick brand represents the future in refeigeration.
